Lack of common sense has really cost the match. When you have had terrible weather all through the day with people waiting all day long for the game to get underway, common sense suggested a 10 minute changeover. Had that been the case, then this match would have really ended with a result. It was not to be. Time for the authorities to open their eyes perhaps. So England still lead 1-0

England trample the Kiwis in series opener
This has been a clinical display of cricket by the Englishmen, they batted exceptionally well and then the bowling and fielding were top class to seal this comprehensive win. 308 was always going to be a challenging target and the Kiwis didn't help themselves by getting off to a sluggish start. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and England remained ahead always in the hunt. The Kiwis have suffered two back to back heavy defeats now and they will have to do something special now to come back hard at their opponents
Kevin Pietersen is the Man of the Match for his blistering knock of 110 off 112 balls.
